Playing the game The new season is still quite a long way off but here’s how the game is going to work.
Firstly you need to pick your team each week. You will be guided through the process and you will only be able to pick players suitably qualified for each position.
You will need to submit your chosen XV by 12pm on Thursdays. Our computer will then add up all the selections and produce a “majority view” XV, in other words the players with the most votes for each position.
This is the XV that will be given to Waterloo’s director of rugby on Thursday evening before training. He will be allowed to make up to four changes. This is important for two reasons. Firstly, he will know the absolute latest situation on injuries and opposition strengths and weaknesses. Secondly, for a fantasy rugby game to work, you need to pit your wits against the clubs selectors. The game needs this unpredictability otherwise everyone who picks the majority XV would get the same number of points every week and the game wouldn’t work.

We will total your points each week and publish a managers league table so you can see just how well you are doing.
How do mywaterloorugby.com keep track of all these statistics? It’s simple - we have an army of volunteers! Each one is tasked with recording statistics for just one player so we will have all the data we need the moment the final whistle goes.
How do I choose which players to pick? You’ll want to see the players in action of course so each match will be professionally videoed and highlights will be available on the website.
Plus you’ll want an idea of each players strengths and weaknesses so throughout pre-season we’ll be building a comprehensive database of statistics. Every player will have a profile page where you can see their rugby achievements to date, height, weight and so on. Each player will also be scored on a range of mental, physical and technical attributes and these will be published too.
All in all you’ll have more objective data available to you than most club coaches.
Good luck!
